Moving Day

A BIG thanks to everyone who helped out last Saturday. I was reminded by how loved we are because you don't help someone move unless you really love them :) We moved all the furniture in the morning and then a lot of people stuck around in the afternoon helping us set up beds, hooking up appliances, and organizing my kitchen. We feel pretty "settled" at this point, mostly because Matt can't stand unpacked boxes and unfinished tasks. We just have to hang some pictures and some curtains and we'll be all set.

moving stress

We are moving in four days and the stress is starting to really kick in. The biggest things are that we're waiting for the paint on the main floor and all the carpet to be finished (neither have been started yet...) It's been hard to move too much since at this point there's no where to put it. We've been doing what we can, like the kitchen stuff, garage stuff, and storage room stuff, but there's still a lot here. I have moments where I think we're doing good and moments where I see everything that isn't packed yet and start to freak out. We will have quite a bit of help with the kids on Thursday and Friday, so I'm hoping we can get a lot done (there's the obvious problem of trying to be productive with two little kids under foot...it just doesn't happen!)

In addition to the packing/moving, Matt is finishing up the paint in the bedrooms and bathrooms and switching out all the light fixtures. We both have personalities where we want it all done at once because unfinished things drive us crazy...I think we're going to have to learn how to relax a bit :).

One month to go...

Now that it's September, it suddenly feels like the move is getting very close. We will have possession on Friday and then the big move is set for the 29th. Right now it sort of feels like the calm before the storm. There's not much to do this next week, but then after that it will be a hectic few weeks. We're going to be picking out appliances, replacing bathroom flooring, striping wall paper, and moving as much of the little stuff as possible ahead of time. We're hoping to hire someone to do most the painting which will take a big project off of our plate. I've started to pack an initial set of boxes filled with things we won't need at this house during the next month. The plan is to fill, load, and unload these boxes as many times as we can. The only hitch is doing all of this with a toddler and a baby...hmmm...Grandma?!?

We're in the game

We put our house on the market yesterday (*sigh*). Our realtor is actually on vacation this week, so we were going to wait until next week, but he said he could get it out there before he left. I figured I had at least this week (or longer) to clean my house and organize things before anyone would be coming through (we don't even have any pictures up yet).

I came home today at 2:30 with a message from Matt saying someone would be coming through at 5:30 (and the second call our realtor got on our house today too). I know three hours sounds like a long time to clean your house, but let me tell you that it definitely is NOT. I put the kids down for naps, made a frantic phone call to my mom (who was here in 10 minutes flat...thanks Mom), and turned into a cleaning machine. We got pretty much everything done, although I could have used another 20 minutes (and couldn't have done it without my mom).

While we were cleaning, I looked up and saw a couple driving slowly by our house taking pictures...not sure if they were the same people or not, but it's nice to have some interest. Hopefully, things won't be so crazy before every showing, but we won't complain. We would love continued prayer, especially that all the timing issues would work out. Thanks for your support!

Not sure about the first aid kit in this picture, but it might have come in handy today because I thought for a bit that I was having a heart attack.
