Macker

Another summer, another basketball-filled weekend in Ludington, another trophy (or two) for the mantle.

Nothing says summer like the Ludington Macker. For us, it's evolved from "I'm going to watch my boyfriend play" to young married couples hanging out for the weekend to fun for the whole family, including lots of little kiddos running around. The weather was perfect and the guys had a nice little run although those games still make me nervous - it's better if I don't watch the end of them when they're close. Matt's team ended up with second place and also the sportsmanship trophy (their Gusbuster was very attached to them). I'm physically exhausted today and I can't figure out how Matt must be feeling since he's the one who was actually playing basketball for two days.

basketball, basketball & more basketball...

So I realized I never blogged about our trip to Indianapolis a few weekends ago. Not sure how you have all gone on without the recap and photos, but here you go a little late. We spent a long weekend in Indy with my family mainly so the guys could go to the Big Ten Tournament. They did a lot of basketball watching and the rest of us kept ourselves busy by shopping, going to the children's museum, and the Indianapolis Zoo. We also attended an MSU pep rally the night we got there and listened to Tom Izzo speak, got free t-shirts and met Sparty. Indianapolis is a fun city to explore - to me it seems like a smaller scale Chicago. It's pretty to look at it and easy to get around. I could do without the four hour car ride with the kids, but I'm not much of a road trip person :)

This past weekend, Matt had the opportunity to go to the Final Four in Detroit with my dad, brother, sister-in-law and nephews. The game on Saturday we obviously very exciting and while Monday night's game didn't turn out the way we wanted, Matt still had a great experience. Matt also got to do a lot of celebrity watching (one of his favorite activities) - spotting MSU basketball players, college coaches, NFL players, and other assorted famous people.

the 4th

We spent our 4th of July in Grandville watching Matt play basketball...again (just try to keep us away from a 3-on-3 tourney). We also managed to catch the parade and spend some time with friends (lunch with Katie and Ernie at Katie's grandparents' house) and family (Matt played with his brothers Chad and Brett). The eight hours we devoted to basketball that day paid off because the boys went undefeated and took first place.

We spent the rest of the weekend with my family at my parents' condo on Lake Michigan. The kids swam and swam and played on the beach. Now back to real life - loads of laundry and tired kids :).

1st Place!

I figured I should post the "trophy picture" from the Grandville 4th of July tourney since it was such a hard fought battle for first. Besides playing basketball all day in the summer heat, they were also short a guy for half the day. Way to bring home the trophy, guys, two years in a row!

Happy 4th of July!

We spent that day watching Matt playing in the Grandville 3-on-3 basketball tournament (they took 1st!!) and then we went to Matt's parents' house for dinner. Dylan had one of the best days of his life to date...watching Daddy, Uncle Brandon, Uncle Chad, and Mr. Ross play basketball, jumping in a giant bouncey thing, roasting marshmallows with Papa, and catching Lightening McQueen bugs (lightening bugs). A fun day, but we are all exhausted, especially Matt, whose body protests after playing basketball almost continuously from 8 until 5!

Macker

We just got home from yet another Ludington Macker. Matt played with his usual team: his brother Brandon and friends Ross and Jon. The guys didn't have the greatest year as far as playing basketball goes, but we (the girls) still had a nice time enjoying the beautiful weather. As they say, there's always next year!
